TXST announces Fulbright U.S. Student Awards for 2024-2025

Olivia Murr

• master’s student, literature
• Hungary — English Teaching Assistant Program
• Murr will teach English and American culture at a university with an American Studies program, as well as assist the work of EducationUSA and American Corners in Hungary in advising Hungarian students interested in studying abroad in the United States.

Carol-Ann Veretto

• bachelor’s student, German; minor in international studies 
• Germany — English Teaching Assistant Program
• Veretto will teach English and American culture in a primary, secondary, or post-secondary school in the Hamburg/Bremen region in Germany to prepare for admission into a graduate program in German Studies.

In addition, the following TXST student was designated as an Alternate Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant recipient and may be awarded a grant if additional funding becomes available.

• bachelor’s student, education 
• Thailand — English Teaching Assistant Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is administered at TXST by the TXST Fulbright Program Advisers (FPAs). Students and recent alumni interested in applying should contact the FPA corresponding to their degree level. The undergraduate FPA is Lisa Haegele, Ph.D., and the graduate FPAs are Brian Smith, DMA, and Andrea Hilkovitz, Ph.D.

The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program and is supported by the people of the United States and partner countries around the world. It is funded through an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Participating governments and host institutions, corporations, and foundations around the world also provide direct and indirect support to the Program.

Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 400,000 participants from over 160 countries the opportunity to study, teach, and conduct research, through which grantees exchange cultural ideas and explore solutions to shared international concerns.
