In Brief: Texas State hosts job search workshops with LinkedIn, Glassdoor

Texas State University will host an information session and reception on Monday, March 27 and student workshops on Tuesday, March 28, aimed at assisting students with job searches in the digital age.

The event and workshops will be conducted in partnership with LinkedIn and Glassdoor. The information session and reception with be at 7 p.m. at the Alkek Library Teaching Theatre. The student workshops will take place at the LBJ Student Center, room 3-9.1., starting at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. and running for 50 minutes.

The information session, called “The Inside Scoop,” will feature Amanda Zipser of LinkedIn and Brett Runyan of Glassdoor. The speakers will share tips on how to build a professional brand and navigate the online world of employment. After the presentation, refreshments will be served and participants will have an opportunity to network with the presenters and other attendees.

The workshops will also be led by Zipser and Runyan. The interactive workshops will instruct students on how to search for jobs, set themselves apart from other candidates and how to interact with job recruiters. Participating students should bring a laptop computer or tablet. Food will be provided.

The event and workshops are sponsored by the School of Family and Consumer Sciences and Texas State Career Services.
