A Cancer Survivors Panel and Remembrance event will be held during the Texas State University-San Marcos Cancer Awareness Month and Community Outreach on Thursday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in the Alkek Teaching Theater on campus.

Texas State, the City of San Marcos, Hays County and San Marcos CISD have all declared April as Cancer Awareness Month.

Eight cancer survivors will tell their stories about battling cancer. With a national spokesperson for the Sunshine Kids, a foundation that supports children with cancer, on the panel, college and high school students should be especially interested in the information. The second part of the program will respectfully remember in a PowerPoint presentation loved ones lost to cancer from Texas State and the larger Central Texas community. The event is free to the public and is preceded by a reception at 6:15 p.m.
