Conspirare brings “Wondrous Journey” to Hill Country Artist Series

SAN MARCOS—The Texas State University-San Marcos School of Music presents the choral ensemble Conspirare as part of the Hill Country Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27.
Conspirare will perform “Wondrous Journey” at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center in Kyle. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens over 65.
With “Wondrous Journey,” Conspirare takes audiences on a voyage through a splendid variety of great choral music--romantic classics, Renaissance music for multiple choirs, Baltic specialties and some Conspirare audience favorites. For those who loved the Cool Blue concerts, a command performance of Estonian composer Veljo Tormis’ “Curse Upon Iron” and other haunting and tender Scandinavian choral gems will thrill once again. For seasoned Conspirare patrons and newcomers alike, this is a “not to be missed” a cappella choral event.
Conspirare was founded in 1991 out of a love for singing and a belief in its power to enrich the lives of all who experience it. Conspirare is now recognized as one of the country’s premier choral ensembles. Under the leadership of artistic director Craig Hella Johnson, Conspirare combines outstanding vocal artistry with innovative programming, creating uniquely dynamic choral art. Comprised of professional singers from around the United States, Conspirare has received rave reviews and national acclaim, most recently the 2005 Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence presented by Chorus America. Conspirare combines classic and contemporary works to lead the audience on a journey of innovative sound, colorful images and thought-provoking literature.
