Students invited to “Trade Up” to Texas State apparel

Date of Release: 02/22/2006

SAN MARCOS—Texas State University-San Marcos students will clean out their closets and get rid of old t-shirts from other colleges March 6 at the Student Chapter sponsored Trading Up event in the Quad.

Student Chapter members are sponsoring the event to increase Bobcat Pride and discourage students from wearing t-shirts from other schools and universities around campus.

“Texas State offers students so much to be proud of and it’s time that we start showing that pride around campus and remove all the other university logos that litter campus,” said Chris Jones, student chapter president.

Head football coach David Bailiff and head baseball coach Ty Harrington will be in attendance to help take unwanted t-shirts and exchange them for a free Texas State shirt. Texas State wristbands will also be available for $1 to benefit Alumni Association scholarships.

Students should either wear or bring their t-shirts from other universities to campus on March 6 and look for the Trading Up tent in the Quad. A private changing area will be provided.

The event supports the Chapter’s missions to promote Bobcat pride and establish a relationship between current students and the Alumni Association. New memberships are always accepted and students are encouraged to check out the Student Chapter homepage at www.TxStateAlumni.org/studentchapter for more information on benefits and joining.
