Beck installed as Teacher Education Council president

SAN MARCOS – John Beck, Dean of the College of Education at Texas State University–San Marcos, was installed as the new president of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities (TECSCU) Feb. 7 in Chicago.

Beck, Texas State dean since 1990, also fills a
gubernatorial appointment on the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. Long active in key state and national leadership positions, he is a past president of the Texas Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (TACTE), the Texas Association of College Teachers (TACT), the Texas Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), and the Texas Professors of Educational Administration (TPEA). Beck was twice elected as Region V (Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas) representative on the TECSCU Board.

TECSCU is a national organization of approximately 180 schools and colleges of education that are committed to providing an education of excellence for the youth of America. TECSCU institutions represent 42 states and prepare about half of all new teachers in the United States.
