SWT announces faculty promotions, tenure actions

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Twenty-four faculty members have been promoted, and eight have been awarded tenure at Southwest Texas State University.

The measures were approved Friday, May 19, by the Texas State University System Board of Regents.

Faculty members promoted from associate professor to professor (with academic department in parentheses) were Aditi Angirasa (agriculture), John Blair (English), Christopher Frost (psychology), Charles Garofalo (political science), Carlos Gutierrez (physics), Elvin Holt (English), John Paul Johnson (music), Roseann Mandziuk (speech communication), Jana Minifie (management and marketing), Marilynn Olson (English) and Joseph Yick (history).

Promoted from assistant professor to associate professor were Jennifer Battle (curriculum and instruction), Jaime Chahin (social work), Michael England (mass communication), Debra Feakes (chemistry), Carol Hazlewood (computer science), Linda Homeyer (educational administration and psychological services), Judy Leavell (curriculum and instruction), James Ott (biology), Maria Panol (mass communication), Katherine Selber (social work), Pamela Showalter (geography), Karen Smith (management and marketing) and Beth Wuest (family and consumer sciences).

Awarded tenure were Jennifer Battle (curriculum and instruction), Debra Feakes (chemistry), Russell Hodges (educational administration and psychological services), James Ott (biology), Maria Panol (mass communication), Katherine Selber (social work), Michael Supancic (criminal justice) and Beth Wuest (family and consumer sciences).
