Supple appointed to Prostate Cancer Advisory Committee

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Southwest Texas State University President Jerome H. Supple has been appointed to the Prostate Cancer Advisory Committee of the Texas Department of Health.

Supple will serve a six-year term on the committee. The purpose of the 11-member committee is to provide the Health Department with strategies for educating the public on the health benefits of the early detection, prevention and treatment of prostate cancer.

Supple has been president of SWT since April 1989. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1997, and is now in remission from the disease.
