The McCoy College of Business Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) team at Texas State University finished second at the 16th Annual Texas Investment Portfolio Symposium (TIPS) Portfolio Management Competition, held Feb. 23 in San Antonio.

This is the third consecutive year the Texas State SMIF team has reached the finals. Team members included Bryce Curtis, Trevor Raedisch and Hailey Wingfield. Hol Toles, Department of Finance and Economics, served as the faculty advisor.

Student teams from universities in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma submitted four-page proposals detailing how they would manage an institutional investment account. Along with Texas State, this year's finalists included Baylor University, Texas Lutheran University and the University of North Texas.  The teams presented to a panel of professional portfolio managers and Chartered Financial Analyst charter holders.
