Texas State University’s Translational Health Research Initiative supports faculty seeking to attract new grant funding, build their research teams, develop research tools, or move forward on multidisciplinary programs.

Texas State University will host the 2019 Health Scholar Showcase from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Performing Arts Center.

Susan Dentzer, president and CEO for the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation, will be the keynote speaker for the event.

The annual Health Scholar Showcase is part of Texas State’s Translational Health Research Initiative, which seeks to improve health by connecting faculty and community partners to engage in innovative research and sponsored programs. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about investigators, sponsored programs, research teams, connect with faculty and funders with similar research interests, and learn from a panel of experts about new and ongoing research opportunities.

Dentzer is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, the Council on Foreign Relations, and Research in America. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Dentzer formerly chaired the Dartmouth Board of Trustees and is a member of the Board of Advisors of Dartmouth Medical School. One of the nation's most respected health and health policy thought leaders and journalists, Dentzer previously served as senior policy adviser to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, editor-in-chief of the journal Health Affairs and as the health correspondent for PBS NewsHour.
