SAN MARCOS – The Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Center at Texas State University, in cooperation with the New Braunfels Fire Department, will hold an Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) course April 11-12 in New Braunfels.

The program is not open to the public, but media coverage of these exercises is invited for Friday April 12. The training will be held at the Tree of Life Church (5513 IH-35 South) in New Braunfels. To schedule coverage, contact Armando Ramirez with the ALERRT Center at (512) 245-4411.

AAIR is a 16-hour training course incorporating live-action simulations designed to improve integration among first responders (including law enforcement, firefighters, tele-communicators and emergency medical services) in active attack/shooter events. The course provides law enforcement officers with key medical skills to increase survivability of victims. AAIR provides a model framework to enable responders to improve safety and increase their effectiveness and coordination during an active attack event.
