SAN MARCOS – Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents the story of innovation in dance by Opening Door Dance Theatre, "Avante: Imagination, Ingenuity, Innovation."

The concert will be held at the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18-20.

As a part of the Common Experience innovation theme this year, the concert will express the innovation of dance throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Avante celebrates decades of innovative dance that challenged and broke social barriers, showcasing the creativity behind the choreography.

Avante will include a tribute to the late modern dance pioneer, Loie Fuller, highlighting her prominent choreography from “Fire Dance” throughout the show.
