The heart of our Bobcat Family breaks for the community of Uvalde, a place that is home for many Texas State University students and alumni. We know that our students and their families have been impacted and may be in need of our support.

Tragically, a current student and a recent graduate of Texas State lost family members in the shooting at Robb Elementary School. Our university community is grieving this unimaginable loss they have suffered. The Dean of Students Office has reached out to offer them the university’s support and to share our condolences. The Dean of Students and the Student Affairs Division will continue to be in contact with them about available resources.

Many in our community have asked how they can help fellow Bobcats and Uvalde families during this time and beyond. The university has set up the Uvalde Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide financial support to current and future Texas State students affected by the shooting at Robb Elementary School.  The scholarship is open for donations and will benefit students from Uvalde with a preference for those directly affected by the tragedy

Among other Texas State resources, the Compassion Advocacy Resources & Education (CARE) Center is available to help current Texas State students; the Counseling Center offers online and in-person services for those impacted directly and indirectly; and emergency funds are accessible through the Dean of Students Office to help students cover unexpected expenses. Texas State employees can access various free confidential services and resources through Bobcat Balance which includes an Employee Assistance Program.

As Texas State President Denise M. Trauth conveyed in her May 24 message to Texas State students, faculty, and staff, we stand with our fellow Bobcats and the Uvalde community during this incredibly difficult time.
