More than 1,000 high school students to participate in annual Career Development Events Invitational

The Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas State University will host the annual Career Development Events Invitational on Friday, March 25.

Approximately 800 junior and senior Future Farmers of America students comprising 179 teams from 89 high schools across Texas will converge on the Agricultural Building, J.C. Kellam Administration Building and Freeman Ranch to compete in an array of competitions. In addition, approximately 300 students will participate virtually.  

Department of Agriculture faculty, including the department chair and associate dean of the College of Applied Arts, will serve as contest superintendents. The contests are diverse, ranging from poultry, livestock, meat and milk judging, to veterinary technology, nursery/landscape, wildlife and land management, to social science/business subjects like agricultural sales, farm business management, agricultural communication and marketing.
