Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces is the first solo exhibition of site-specific screendance works by Ana Baer Carrillo and will be on exhibit at the Texas State Galleries Oct. 24-Nov. 16.

Ana Baer Carrillo, associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University, will deliver the 2018 Presidential Seminar at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5 at the Texas State Galleries in the Joann Cole Mitte Building.

Carrillo is presenting as the winner of the Presidential Seminar Award 2018 for Scholarly/Creative Work. The video installation of her recent work, "Espacios Latentes/Latent Spaces," will be on exhibit at the Texas State Galleries Oct. 24-Nov. 16.

Carrillo is known for her outstanding video-choreography that expresses the inner condition of underrepresented communities. Her latest research includes site-specific screendance and site-specific multidisciplinary performances; a hybridization of cinematography and choreography.

Her innovative work has been presented on four continents and goes back more than a decade. She heavily involves her students in her work by giving dancers and filmmakers the opportunity to travel and learn from international leaders in their branch of study.

This year alone, she has been recognized by Texas State with the Excellence in Diversity Award and the Verena and Kenneth J. Wilson Latin American Research Fellowship for her creative work.
