Texas State University’s student radio station, KTSW, has been nominated for two College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) national student production awards.

KTSW was nominated for best public service announcement for its “Graduation Confetti PSA.” It was also nominated for best station promotion for its “Counterspin Promo.” Both awards are in the audio category.

“Getting recognition at the national level shows that the KTSW 89.9 staff is succeeding in their efforts to produce unique and creative content,” said general manager and station adviser Dan Schumacher. “Our staff puts a lot of effort into creating high quality work, and I’m very proud of them.”

The “Graduation Confetti PSA” informed students (and recent graduates) about confetti's harmful effects on the river. The spot featured a fish eating a piece of confetti.

The “Counterspin Promo” was a promotional piece for the station’s weekly syndicated news show “Counterspin.” The spot featured a character who was paranoid about being followed by the government after listening to “the hard-hitting and honest reporting on ‘Counterspin’.”
