In Brief: Model Arab League garners 'Outstanding Team' honor in Houston

The Texas State University student delegation represented Qatar at the Bilateral Chamber Regional Model Arab League event held at the University of Houston-Clear Lake February 18-19, earning "Outstanding Team" honors for its efforts.

The Bilateral U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce and the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations organized the event, during which students debate in five councils: economic affairs, joint defense, Palestinian affairs, political affairs and social affairs.

Individually, Texas State's Sarah Marshall received "Outstanding Chair" honors for her roles as chair of the council on Palestinian Affairs, and Daisy Jaimez received "Distinguished Chair" honors.

Coffey McCurdy and Keeley Dorman were awarded "Outstanding Delegation" for their roles on the joint defense council. Mohammad Al-Rousan and Kierah Shirk were awarded "Outstanding Delegation" for their roles in political affairs. N'Deye Ndiaye and Kele Isibor were awarded "Distinguished Delegation" for their roles on the economic affairs council, and Geoffrey Sloan and Aaron Gaul were awarded "Distinguished Delegation" for their roles on the Palestinian affairs council. Eman Saleh and Christine Gian were awarded "Distinguished Delegation" for their contribution to social affairs.
