McCoy College announces speakers for 2017 Business Leadership Week

The McCoy College of Business Administration at Texas State University has announced the speaker lineup for this year’s Business Leadership Week, February 13-17.

The event will feature a variety of forums and interactive events centered around the theme “Inspired Leadership: Overcoming Conflict.” The theme is in tandem with the university’s Common Experience program: “A Century of Conflict: Dialogues on the U.S. Experience of War since 1917.”

Jonathan Silk, executive director of leadership development at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, will give the keynote address at 11 a.m., February 13 in room 119 of McCoy Hall. Silk will speak on the topic of “Developing Leaders for a Complex World.”  

Col. Jeff Haynes, U.S. Marine Corps, retired, will deliver this year’s Distinguished Lecture at 2 p.m., February 15 in McCoy Hall room 233. Haynes will speak on “Conflict Resolution: Understanding Your Role as a Leader.”

The Sustainability Panel will feature Melissa Bouilly, head of social and environmental responsibility for Dell; Paula Ivey, president and founder of the CSR Group, LLC; and Justin Murrill, senior manager of corporate sustainability for AMD. The panel will take place at 12:30 p.m. February 13 in McCoy Hall, room 126.

The Leadership Panel will feature professionals from various backgrounds sharing their leadership experience and perspective on the theme “Inspired Leadership, Overcoming Conflict.” Panelists include Rey Arellano, assistant city manager for Austin; Koy McDermott, speaking and presentation coach for Leaders Inspire Leaders, LLC; and Amberly Russell, fundraising and development consultant for Boys and Girls Clubs of South Central Texas. The panel will take place at 11 a.m., February 14 in McCoy Hall, room 233.
