The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment at Texas State University and the Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce will co-host a Texas-Israeli Water Innovation Showcase on May 5 that will highlight cutting-edge water innovations and solutions for Texas water challenges.

The event will run 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the J. Garland Warren Room at Bobcat Stadium.

"Texas and Israel are natural strategic partners and we are excited to show how incredible technology from Israel is game-changing for the state of Texas," said Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce CEO Toba Hellerstein.

The event will bring together key leaders in water industry and water policy, from both Texas and Israel, to discuss how to move innovation into practice. The featured guest speaker is Gil Shaki, senior director of energy and cleantech at the Office of the Chief Scientist (OSC) in the Israel Innovation Authority, a special division within the Israeli Ministry of Economy. Shaki is responsible for the OCS’ support programs and activities focused on water, renewable energy, oil substitutes and green growth strategies.

“The water sector is changing rapidly--new technologies are driving innovations toward water recovery, sustainable water management, desalination and much more,” said Andrew Sansom, executive director of The Meadows Center. “Israel is at the forefront of this change and has become a world leader in water efficiency and innovation.”

A light lunch will be provided. Registration is free and space is limited. For more information or to register, visit WaterShowcase.MeadowsWater.org.

Sponsors for the event include the Israel Ministry of Economy, Decker Mechanical Corporation, Master Meter, Elbit Systems of America, STAR Park, Department of Geography, the Israel Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources, the Israel Innovation Authority, Texas Water Conservation Association, the Texas Water Foundation and Israel NewTech.
