Lynn Ledbetter, professor of violin at Texas State University, has received the Phyllis Young Outstanding Studio Teacher of the Year Award from the Texas Chapter of the American String Teachers Association.

The award, begun in 2006, is named for Phyllis Young, professor emeritus of cello and string pedagogy at the University of Texas’ Butler School of Music.  Young was the director of the UT String Project for 35 years, a group in which Ledbetter began her violin studies at the age of 4.

This award is given in recognition of excellence in and contribution to the area of private studio string teaching. The award will be presented during the 2017 Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio in February.
