Texas State University will observe Graduate Student Appreciation Week (GSAW) April 3-9.

Initiated by the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students in 1993, the event is designed to recognize the contributions, impact and value of graduate and professional students, as well as raise awareness of the role of graduate and professional students within America’s colleges and universities. The Graduate College at Texas State has a vibrant graduate student community with close to 4,000 students enrolled in approximately 100 master’s and doctoral programs.

There is a wide range of events during the week for graduate students sponsored by various departments and offices across the campus, including workshops, socials, wellness classes, and recreational opportunities. All GSAW events are free to Texas State graduate students.

The City of San Marcos has also joined the celebration with Mayor Daniel Guerrero’s proclamation of the week of April 3 as “Graduate Student Appreciation Week.”  Local businesses will be offering discounts to Texas State graduate students and providing door prizes that will be given away at many of the campus events.
