The Enactus/Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter at Texas State University has launched a crowdfunding campaign to send the national champion team to represent the United States at the 2014 Enactus World Cup, Oct. 22-24, in Beijing, China.

The crowdfunding campaign, a joint effort between the McCoy College of Business Administration and University Advancement, is the first of its kind at Texas State and can be accessed at https://donate.txstate.edu/enactusworldcup2014.

The goal is to raise a minimum of $25,000 toward the estimated total cost of $45,000 to send the 18-member team to Beijing.

Crowdfunding is about networking, usually via the Internet, to involve many people in supporting a cause. Texas State Enactus students worked with McCoy College staff to create a video and prepare for the crowdfunding. They launched the campaign this week through a variety of social media, including emails, tweets, Facebook postings and more.

The site will remain open until the end of September. Contributors can follow the progress toward reaching the goal and will also receive updates about the trip to Beijing and the competition for the 2014 World Cup.
