Texas State University has launched txstatepresents.com, an automated, online ticketing system for the College of Fine Arts and Communications.

Through a partnership with University Tickets, the new website will allow users to purchase tickets for any College of Fine Arts and Communication program performance. It represents a necessary step in the evolution of the program, said John Fleming, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance.

“People are used to doing things online,” Fleming said. “An online ticketing system is something we needed.”

In the spring, a request for proposals was submitted and narrowed down to four candidates. University Tickets was chosen, in part due to their previous experience with collegiate ticketing.

“University Tickets is doing a great job,” Robert Styers, box office manager said. “It brings continuity to the ticketing system.”

Prior to the website launch, programs sold performance tickets independently. Txstatepresents.com hosts the ticketing information for all departments on one site. It also has an events calendar and an email newsletter sign up, with more features to come, Fleming said.

“We have new first rate facilities and a new box office manager,” Fleming said. “We now have a first rate ticketing system.”
