Eugene Lee to star in Shakespeare's 'Richard III' at Texas State

Awarding-winning Broadway actor and Artist-in-Residence Eugene Lee will star in Shakespeare’s “Richard III,” the most recent production to be brought to the stage by the Department of Theatre and Dance at Texas State University.

The performance will take place on Feb. 12-16 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at the University Mainstage Theatre, located at 430 Moon St. in San Marcos.

Directed by Chuck Ney, “Richard III” is one of Shakespeare’s greatest historical plays that tells of the hunchbacked Duke of Gloucester who becomes King Richard III in a third world, war-torn country. The production will take a modern look at this classic tale of greed, corruption and the pursuit of power.

Tickets for the performance are $12 for general admission and $7 for students with a valid Texas State ID. Tickets will go on sale beginning Feb. 5 at 10 a.m.
