Alumna Glass to highlight 3rd annual WISE conference

A keynote address by Peggy Glass of Alan Plummer Associates, Inc., will highlight the 3rd Annual Women in Science and Engineering Conference April 12-13 at Texas State University-San Marcos.

The conference, themed “Scientists Making a Difference,” will take place in the LBJ Student Center on campus 1-9 p.m. April 12 and 8:15 a.m.-6 p.m. April 13.

Glass is the executive vice-president at Alan Plummer Associates, Inc., an environmental engineering firm that specializes in projects related to water quantity and quality, water supply, wastewater management and stormwater management. She earned her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Texas State in 1962 and went on to gain her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Texas in 1969. She has approximately 40 years of technical and managerial experience and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Texas Water Conservation Association. She specializes in water quality management studies, environmental permitting, evaluations of water sources as water supplies, environmental assessments, nonpoint source management, water quality standards and storm water quality management.

The WISE Conference focuses on friendly interaction among attendees, and will provide multiple opportunities to learn about research currently under way at Texas State, explore future research directions, give student participants the chance to meet experienced professors and experts from industry, and showcase career paths for women in science and engineering.

Programming events include a scholarship competition for current undergraduate and graduate Texas State students, research poster session, engineering and science career panels, campus laboratories and facilities tours, a career development seminar and networking sessions with industry professionals, faculty and alumni.
