Texas State University-San Marcos has been frequently recognized regarding its support of student veterans. Recently, the university authorized student veterans to wear honor cords during graduation. This additional service reflects the university's commitment to being a veteran-friendly campus.
"Veterans are accustomed to wearing devices on their military uniform which show their accomplishments and experiences," said Domitilo Ponce, of the Veterans Advisory Council at Texas State. "By allowing veterans the opportunity to continue this tradition embraces the university's promotion of diversity and culture acceptance."
Last year, Texas State was ranked 13th in the nation among the best four-year colleges and universities for veterans in Military Times EDGE magazine. In 2009, the university was selected in the top 15 percent nationally for military friendly colleges by G.I. Jobs magazine.
"The veterans at Texas State look forward to continuing this tradition with honor, pride and much acknowledgement to Texas State, Veterans Advisory Council and all those in support of our veterans," said Ponce.
