Texas State University System Chancellor Brian McCall joined Texas State University-San Marcos President Denise Trauth to dedicate the new North Campus Housing Complex on Aug. 8.

The complex, comprised of Gaillardia and Chautauqua halls, is located on the Texas State campus at the intersection of Sessom Drive and Comanche Street near the LBJ Student Center. The residence halls, dedicated to housing Texas State freshmen, will open to incoming students this fall.

Gaillardia and Chautauqua halls are built to LEED standards and are designed as community-style residences with a variety of gathering spaces to foster a sense of campus life. Each hall provides 306 spaces in double and single bedrooms, for a total of 612 beds and 189,000 square feet. Total cost of the project is $33,000,000, financed by revenue-bonds which will be paid back by the students who reside in on-campus housing.
