Students returning to campus and moving into residence halls at Texas State University could cause increased traffic in the campus and downtown areas of San Marcos Aug. 18 and 19.

The Department of Housing and Residential Life (DHRL) at Texas State will welcome approximately 6,000 students to campus this weekend. Residents, with the exception of those assigned to Bobcat Village, will participate in a centralized move-in process from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day that requires them to check in at Strahan Coliseum before continuing to their assigned hall.

The DHRL has assigned students specific arrival times over the two-day period in an effort to decrease traffic at the halls and within the community.

After checking in at Strahan Coliseum, students report to their assigned residence hall. The students have 30 minutes to unload before having to relocate their vehicles to a perimeter lot. Texas State offers a shuttle service to transport students and families from the parking lots to the residence halls.

Resident move-in kicks off the start of the 2012-2013 academic year. Students have until Sunday, Aug. 26, to claim their on-campus space. Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 27. For more information on move-in, please call the DHRL at (512) 245-2382.
