Graduate College hosts 3rd Annual International Research Conference

The Graduate College at Texas State University-San Marcos is hosting the 3rd Annual International Research Conference for Graduate Students Nov. 2-3.

The conference is an opportunity for graduate students from various fields to present their original research. Students will receive feedback on their presentations from experienced faculty members. Master’s and doctoral students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate. The conference is free and open to all currently enrolled graduate students. Although presentations are limited to graduate students, interested undergraduate students currently enrolled in colleges and universities are also invited to attend.

Graduate students interested in presenting research papers must submit an abstract to www.gradcollege.txstate.edu/rsrch_conf/papers/abstract by Sept. 30.

Students may attend the conference even if they do not submit an abstract. All participants and attendees are required to register online at www.gradcollege.txstate.edu/rsrch_conf/register.html for the conference. All graduate and undergraduate students are invited to attend. Only graduate students may present.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Keynote Address on libel tourism by Howard M. Wasserman, J.D., professor of law, Florida International University College of Law, and expert on First Amendment, Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m., LBJ Student Center ballroom
  • Conference-opening panel on Hispanic/Latino research moderated by Jaime Chahin, dean, College of Applied Arts, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 4:30-6:15 p.m., LBJ Student Center, 3-14.1
  • Distinguished research panel, Thursday, Nov. 3, 9-10 a.m., LBJ Student Center, 3-14.1 with research presentations by John T. Baccus, Texas State University System Regents' Professor of Biology (Retd.) and David R. Butler, Texas State University System Regents' Professor of Geography and University Distinguished Professor of Geography
  • Concurrent sessions with student presentations will be held Nov. 3
