The 12th annual “La Feria del Mariachi” will be held at Texas State University-San Marcos April 1-2.

The event, sponsored by the Multicultural Music Program in Texas State’s School of Music, will feature a star-studded concert 7 p.m. April 2 in Strahan Coliseum on campus.

Feria del Mariachi is a two-day mariachi festival including a mariachi competition for scholastic and community groups, mariachi workshops and a mariachi concert featuring the competition winners as well as Texas State’s Mariachi Nueva Generacion, and the Rio Grande Valley's award-winning Mariachi 7 Leguas. The event hosts nearly 400 competitors from schools across Texas, with the concert attracting 3,000 mariachi fans.

Feria del Mariachi's mission is to promote mariachi education and culture in the schools and the community by exposing students to successful figures in the mariachi community and providing them a chance to meet other young musicians.

Concert ticket prices are $15 for preferred seating, $10 for general admission and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased online at www.feriadelmariachi.com.
