The Writing Center at Texas State University-San Marcos will host Dan Quinn, communications director for the Texas Freedom Network and Texas State alumnus, as the first guest in the fall 2010 speaker series “Writing Beyond the University.”

The event, free and open to the public, will be held Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. in Flowers Hall room G04.

The speaker series for the fall 2010 semester emphasizes the importance of post-college writing in all fields and careers. The program will feature monthly speakers who will present lectures addressing the semester’s topic.

Drawing on his experiences in journalism, publishing and his current position with TFN, Quinn will discuss the importance of writing in all professions. An open Q&A session will follow the lecture and refreshments will be provided.

The TFN is a nonpartisan organization that advocates religious freedom and individual liberties. Based in Austin, the nonprofit corporation monitors the actions and policies of religious activists in Texas and has served as a trusted resource for major media since 1995.

In his capacity as communications director at TFN, Quinn interacts with news media and manages research and public policy reports for the organization.
