Physical Therapy announces balance and gait training program

The Department of Physical Therapy at Texas State University-San Marcos will launch a new Balance and Gait Training Program at the end of August at the physical therapy clinic on campus.

The program is for persons who have balance problems after a stroke or head injury. The grant-funded program will provide physical therapy twice a week to clients for six weeks free of charge.

Qualifications for the program include the following: be at least 18 years of age, be at least six months after a stroke or head injury, have hemiparesis (weakness on one side of body), be able to tolerate walking at least 10' with assistance, and provide personal transportation to the clinic at the Health Professions Building on campus. There is limited space in the program.
