Thanks to a grant by the John G. Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation, Texas State University-San Marcos will launch Caminitos: Pathways to School Success for Children and Families.

Caminitos is a partnership with Hernandez Early Childhood Education Center and the College of Applied Arts and the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Texas State.

Caminitos proposes the engagement and collaboration of school, family and the university to enhance children’s school readiness in math, literacy and social skills, thereby facilitating academic success. The mechanism for creating the paths to success will be a model that 1) provides families with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully participate in their children’s early education; 2) reflects the home as well as school environments in the educational experience; and 3) prepares current and future college students to facilitate family involvement in the schools.

Texas State faculty Elizabeth Blunk, Sue Williams, Elizabeth Russell Morgan, Nancy Chavkin and Jaime Chahin will participate in this project.
