The Central Texas Writing Project at Texas State University-San Marcos will host a series of Young Writers Camps for students age 6-18 in July.

Camp sessions will be July 6-10 and 13-17 from 9 a.m.-noon for ages 6-8 and 9-11; July 6-10 and 13-17 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. for ages 12-14; and July 20-24 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for ages 15-18. New this year is a SAT writing preparation camp for high school students spanning four Saturday sessions--July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26 and Oct 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cost for all sessions is $225 per child, of $200 per child if two or more siblings are enrolled. Campers will meet on the San Marcos or Round Rock campuses.

Central Texas Writing Project teachers share the belief that students learn to write when they are inspired in a supportive, non-threatening environment. The goal for the Young Writers Camp is to give all participating students, regardless of skill level, the opportunity to compose in a variety of styles, to become more self-confident in their own writing ability and to learn to appreciate the ability of others.
