School of Music hosting 2009 Flute Festival

Ensembles from six universities will converge at Texas State University-San Marcos to participate in the annual Flute Festival March 25, 8 p.m. at Evans Auditorium.

Held every spring, the festival will present the University of Texas-San Antonio, Texas Lutheran University, St. Mary's University the University of Incarnate Word and Our Lady of the Lake University alongside Texas State performers. The ensembles will join to perform musical selections from the French Baroque period, German classical and Swedish composers.  

Approximately 40 to 45 flutists of various levels of ability and styles will meet and rehearse the afternoon of the event before performing that evening.
