Texas State to dedicate Bobcat statue Saturday

The public is invited to the dedication of a new bronze Bobcat sculpture at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, on the Quad on the Texas State campus.

The statue was installed Monday, Oct. 13, between the Taylor Murphy Building and the Psychology Building. It will be unveiled and dedicated on Saturday.

Texas State University President Denise M. Trauth and representatives of the Associated Student Government will participate in the dedication ceremony.

The statue was commissioned by the Associated Student Government and it was created by noted sculptor Matthew Palmer of Friday Harbor, Washington.

Saturday is homecoming at Texas State and those attending the dedication of the Bobcat mascot statue are encouraged to wear game day attire. The Texas State Bobcats will play the University of Central Arkansas Bears in the homecoming football game at 3 p.m. in Bobcat Stadium.
