The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Student Affairs Diversity Team at Texas State University-San Marcos are kicking off Diversity Month with Mama’s Kitchen multicultural lunch March 6 from 12-1 p.m. in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom. Events are free and open to the university community.
Texas State students, faculty and staff are invited to converse with one another and enjoy a delicious array of foods from various ethnic and racial backgrounds.
The Texas State Panorama Steel Drum Band will entertain the event with a number of different “pans” created from 55-gallon steel drums. Different depths of playing surface on the drums result in tenor, double tenor, alto, guitar, cello and bass sounds.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will host Mama’s Kitchen the first Thursday of each month at 12 p.m. An event is also slated April 3 at George’s on the first floor of the LBJ Student Center.
Events are sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, the Student Affairs Diversity Team and the Texas State Mentoring Program.
