The Dream for Darfur Olympic Torch, a poweful symbol of peace and hope for millions of displaced genocide victims, will blaze through the Texas State campus on Nov. 28 at 12:15 p.m., and the campus community is asked to help make the visit a success.

STAND at Texas State need is inviting all students, faculty and staff to contribute to the cause. Donation tables will be set up from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Mall area between Alkek Library and the LBJ Student Center .

Following at 6 p.m. will be a showing "The Devil Came on Horseback," a documentary about the genocide in Darfur . The film will be shown in Centennial Hall Teaching Theater, to be followed by a reception in Lampases 407A.

The torch is intended to deter China , the 2008 host of the Summer Olympic Games, from supporting the genocide in Darfur . More than 28 states in the U.S. and seven countries around the world will host the torch until it reaches China 's doorstep in December.
