Philosophy Dialogue Series features slate of engaging topics

The fall 2007 Philosophy Dialogue Series at Texas State University-San Marcos continues through the week of Oct. 9-11 with “Water and Sustainability,” in room PSY 132.

On Oct. 9 at 12:30 p.m. Ben Armstrong and Stephen Peanick with special guest Mark Busby, director of the Center for the Study of the Southwest, will present “Philosophy and the River,” and “Sophists and Sages.”

On Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m. Vince Lopez will present “Nature, Self and Society: The Environmental Philosophy of Felix Guattan.”

Oct. 11 will feature Michael Huston with “Biodeversity” at 11 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. Jo Ann Carson and the philosophy dialogue class will present “Water and the Elements in 12th Century Science,” and “Sophists and Sages,” with special guest Jack Zupko of Emory University. At 3:30 p.m. the R.F. Mitte Technology & Physics class along with Zupko will present “Teaching an Interdisciplinary Course on Water,” the common experience lecture.

Co-sponsors of the Philosophy Dialogue Series are the American Democracy Project, Anthem Foundation for Objectivist Scholarship, College of Liberal Arts, Common Experience, New York Times, Phi Sigma Tau, University Seminar, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President Student Affairs, and the Gina Weatherhead Dialogue Fund.
