Body found at Texas State Apartment identified

 

SAN MARCOS – A body found Monday at a Texas State University-San Marcos apartment complex has been identified as that of Zachary Q. Evans, 20, of Wink, Texas.

Evans was a former student at Texas State University-San Marcos, and was last enrolled during the 2007 spring semester. He initially enrolled at Texas State in the 2005 fall semester. He was listed as a junior majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

Evans graduated from Kermit High School in 2005.

Evans’ body was discovered by two employees of the Texas State University Department of Residence Life at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, on a balcony of an apartment at Texas State’s Bobcat Village apartment complex. They immediately notified Texas State University Police.

University police determined that there was no evidence of a violent crime at the scene, and Evans’ body was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and an autopsy. Preliminary autopsy reports indicated no signs of trauma. A cause of death has not yet been determined, and officials are awaiting the results of toxicology tests which may take several weeks.
