Two health information management students from Texas State University-San Marcos have been honored by the Texas Health Information Management Association.

Chelsea Lamensky, a senior from Brenham, won a scholarship and Christine Pencak, a May graduate from Belleville, Ill., received the Outstanding Student award.

At the association’s annual last month in San Antonio, Sue Biedermann, president of TxHIMA, presented the students with a monetary award and Lamensky received a plaque.

“Both are outstanding academically, involved, have leadership potential, and are very well rounded individuals,” Biedermann said.  “In the past Texas State students have been very successful in receiving these kinds of awards.”

Texas State is only one of two places in the state where the bachelors of science in health information management degree is offered.
