Career Services offers “Interviewing Skills” workshop for students

Date of Release: 09/15/2006

SAN MARCOS —The Office of Career Services at Texas State University-San Marcos will sponsor a 5:30 p.m. “Interviewing Skills” workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the Teaching Theatre on the fourth floor of the LBJ Student Center on campus.

To help students prepare for interviews, the panel will cover initial preparation, attire, and the behavioral interview question format. The corporate representatives will discuss and provide insight into all the right things to say that will “Wow” the company. Students will be able to pick the brains of five guest speakers: Nikki Farmer, Deloitte LLP; Ali Di Vasto, Rackspace Managed Hosting; RyAnne Woodward, Enterprise Rent-A-Car; Ronnie Foust, Hope Lumber; and Kevin Lecce, Wells Fargo.

The Interviewing Skills workshop is a great way to prepare for the Fall Job and Internship Fair which will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Strahan Coliseum. At a record high capacity with an employer waiting list, the Fall Job and Internship Fair will provide an opportunity for all students to visit with employers regarding different careers, internships, part-time and summer jobs and/or full time careers following graduation. Many of the employers who attend the Fall Job and Internship Fair will also schedule on campus interviews with students in the Career Services Office.

Because this year features an unprecedented number of employers and companies ready to hire Bobcats, all students are encouraged to attend. Students can view a list of employers attending, submit their resume, and schedule on campus interviewing through Jobs4Cats. Jobs4Cats is a password-protected database listing internships, jobs and job fair employers exclusively for Bobcats.
