Gaillardia Gallery hosts 'Texas State in Florence' exhibit

Date of release: 10/03/05

A little bit of Italy comes to campus this month, as a new exhibit, "Texas State in Florence," opens in the Gaillardia Gallery Oct. 5 and runs through Nov. 4 at Texas State University-San Marcos.

The exhibition reflects the activities and impressions of Texas State students and faculty who studied in Florence, Italy, through May and June of this year. The images were created during assigned work and free time as the participants absorbed the Italian environment.

Study abroad classes in art history, drawing and photography are offered every summer to Texas State students. During the month of study, excursions are taken to Pisa, Siena, Venice and Rome. The experience of living and creating art in Italy not only influences the studentsí creative approaches but also transformes their lives.
