Mathworks receives pair of grants in support of Summer Math Camps

SAN MARCOS—Texas Mathworks at Texas State University-San Marcos has been honored with two grants from the Kodosky Foundation and the American Math Society.
Mathworks received a grant of $30,000 from the Kodosky Foundation to support the Texas State Junior Summer Math Camp (JSMC). This is a two-week, multi-tiered summer program for students in grades 4-8. A limited number of residential students also participate. In addition, teachers may participate and learn how to begin their own summer math camp using the Mathworks JSMC model through a special training program.
The American Math Society (AMS) Epsilon Fund has given Mathworks a $14,000 grant to support scholarships for the Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC). The HSMC is a six-week residential program for talented high school students who are excited about doing mathematics-- the goal of the program is to develop future leaders in math and science by providing challenging courses in a unique learning environment. The Epsilon Fund each year provides grants to 8-10 of the top high school math programs in the country--and this is the fourth time Texas Mathworks has been recognized with support.
Mathworks is a center for excellence in math and math education at Texas State that is dedicated to raising the level of mathematics for students and teachers.
