Supple Series hosts Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group

Date of Release: 02/17/2005

SAN MARCOS—Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Group bring their popular American music stylings to Texas State University-San Marcos Sunday, Feb. 27, for a 4 p.m. performance in the Music Building Recital Hall.

The show is part of the Jerry and Cathy Supple Folk Music Series, co-sponsored by Century Tel, with the proceeds to benefit the Reed Parr Music Endowment.

A Virginia-based duo known for their rich harmonies and original songwriting, Robin and Linda Williams have thrilled folk, bluegrass and country audiences throughout America for more than 25 years. From their many appearances on A Prairie Home Companion, The American Radio Company, Austin City Limits and The Grand Ole Opry, the Williams’ music reaches deep into American traditions and, in the words of the Richmond Times Dispatch, “encompasses all that’s best in country music.”

Robin and Linda Williams are joined in concert by Jim Watson, a founding member of the Red Clay Ramblers, on bass and his distinctive harmony vocals, and bluegrass veteran Jimmy Gaudreau on mandolin and mandola.

The Williams’ new CD from Red House Records, Deeper Waters, is a selection of personal and strong songs that has been described as “nothing more than a masterpiece” by the All Music Guide. Their previous CD, Visions Of Love, stayed on the Americana Charts soon after its release January 2002 and was rated in the top five of both the Folk and Bluegrass charts on Roots Music Report.

Tickets prices are $10 for the general public and $5 for students, with limited seating. For further information, contact the Events Coordinator at (512) 245-3501.
