Texas State hosts TIFA forensics tournament

SAN MARCOS — Texas State University-San Marcos will host the prestigious Texas Intercollegiate Forensics Association Tournament Nov. 5-7 at Centennial Hall on campus.

Organized by the LBJ Debate Society and the Elton Abernathy Forensics Society on campus, Texas State has hosted six consecutive fall TIFA tournaments, and has hosted more of the competitively-bid tournaments than any other Texas university.

The tournament celebrates the accomplishments of university students across Texas. In addition to Texas State students, more than 150 participants from Rice, Southern Methodist and the University of Texas will compete in speech events including impromptu, extemporaneous, persuasion, informative, after dinner speaking, communication analysis, poetry, program oral interpretation, dramatic interpretation, dramatic duo and parliamentary debate.
