Texas State hosts I-35 corridor growth summit

SAN MARCOS —Texas State University-San Marcos will host the I-35 Corridor Growth Summit on Friday, Dec. 3 at the LBJ Student Center from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Austin Business Journal summit, open to the public, will address the opportunities for growth and development in the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.

Keynote speaker Steve Murdock, Texas’ state demographer, will address the changing demographics in the corridor and how that translates into the economic environment. A panel discussion, hosted by Pete Winstead, will provide insight into why the corridor is a good place to do business.

“This is our first summit in support of the community’s efforts and the goal is to bring key representatives together to discuss regional planning and use this as an awareness meeting for our community to drive more business to the corridor," said ABJ publisher Lyn Chasteen.

Murock’s presentation, “Population Change in Central Texas: Implications for Human and Socioeconomic Resources in the 21st Century,” will be featured during a luncheon.

The panel discussion, “Opportunities for Growth and Development” will follow. Panelists include Bill Morrow, Vice Chairman and CEO of Grande Communications; Mayor John Trube, City of Buda; Peter French, Project Manager, Plum Creek Development; Clif Davis, Principal, Carter & Burgess; and Charles Quisenberry, Regional Director, Retail Division, Cousins Properties.
