Texas State presents Blood Wedding

Date released: 02/19/04

SAN MARCOS – The Texas State University-San Marcos Department of Theatre and Dance presents Federico Garcia Lorca’s Blood Wedding, Feb. 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Studio Theatre within the Theatre Center.

Spanish playwright Lorca’s poetic tragedy deals with death that results from family feuds. Written in 1933, Blood Wedding tells the story of a bride who runs away with a man other than the bridegroom. Director Melissa King-Knowles, a graduate student at Texas State, incorporates Spanish text and cultural song and dance into the production to enhance the spirit of the play. Lorca’s words take on new life in this production, showing us the beauty of love amid the horrors of death.

Tickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for students with ID. For more information, call (512) 245-2147.
